HI! NICE TO MEET YOU!
Hi! My name is Dr. Colby Walters. I received a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in psychology, with a minor in sociology in December of 2008. I graduated with my Masters of Science degree in Human Services with a specialization in Marital, Couple, and Family Therapy in June of 2014. Along with this degree, I also obtained a post-baccalaureate certificate in Contemporary Theory in Mental Health Service and a certificate in Contemporary Theory in Couple and Family Systems. In November of 2017, I completed my PhD in Advanced Studies of Human Behavior from Capella University. I am an active member of the counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota, Chi Upsilon Chapter as well as a member of the Capella University Marriage and Family Therapy Advisory Board.
I worked at the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children advocating and working with trauma related survivors. I completed a trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) collaborative with the State of Texas. Additionally, I am trained and have my certificate in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and am now a consultant for EMDR clinicians. I have been counseling since 2012 and have loved every minute of it.
The majority of my cases have been centered around depression, PTSD, anxiety, relationship issues, and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. I am a compassionate and laid back counselor. I treat everyone with respect and without casting judgement. Seeking help is the biggest step towards healing— let me help you!
